Mountain Point’s history is rooted in data. Our company’s three founders first met while working for U.S. government clients. There, they were on the cutting edge of efforts to integrate global intelligence systems and implement large-scale data analysis projects to predict and prevent threats to our nation.
They recognized early that the technologies they were using to keep our country safe — artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, integrated data clearinghouses, and automation — would soon rock and revolutionize the business world. They also knew that this change would create a whole new playing field, giving those companies that could adapt quickly a competitive edge.
So, the team guided a mid-market, multi-national original equipment manufacturer (OEM) through a complete digital transformation. The results were definitive: the company emerged leaner, more agile, and better equipped to compete in the global market. And, in 2014, Mountain Point was born to help more companies do the same.
Our goal is to help our clients align and optimize people, processes, technology, and data. Recognizing the power of the Salesforce platform to do just that, we became Salesforce consulting partners and developed deep expertise in customizing, implementing, and managing Salesforce products.
We began by specializing in the manufacturing and consumer packaged goods verticals, areas where we see tremendous opportunity to streamline and modernize operations. Along the way, companies and organizations from a variety of industries began reaching out to us for help. So while our knowledge and experience in guiding manufacturing companies through digital journeys is second to none, our consultants have also become experts in helping all types of businesses leverage Salesforce’s full suite of solutions.
As we expanded our company and service offerings, we saw an opportunity to give back to our communities and make a positive social impact. In addition to their shared professional history, our founders have another thing in common: they all grew up in West Virginia, in the heart of Appalachia.
Communities in central Appalachia have seen more than their fair share of trials. During the industrial age, the area’s mountainous geography made it difficult to develop a diverse economy. The only industry that really took hold was coal mining. And when the coal market recently collapsed, it created shockwaves that decimated the region — leading to a litany of social problems including high instances of poverty, an epidemic of drug addiction, crumbling infrastructure, and declining health and wellness rates.
But where many see problems, we see opportunities. So when we needed to grow our talent pool, our leadership team turned to their hometowns. We knew that people in Appalachia have the talent, ingenuity, and drive to join the tech economy. And with the geographic constraints of the bygone industrial era out of the way, all they needed was a chance.
In 2016, we founded CentralApp, a company committed to hiring people from Appalachian communities for tech jobs. We worked with government and nonprofit agencies to provide free training in Salesforce and other digital platforms and built a capable workforce of previously untapped talent.
Our partnership with CentralApp allows us to provide jobs and highly competitive wages to a region in desperate need of both. But, because the cost of living in Appalachia is so low, the cost to our clients is a fraction of what they’d normally pay for skilled, onshore Salesforce consultants.
